Do not shave the face the day of a facial, and skip heavy makeup if you can. If you are on prescription acne medication or have had a recent cosmetic procedure elsewhere, tell your Lumina esthetician at the consultation so the treatment can be adjusted.

Ideally wait until the next morning, especially after extractions or exfoliation, because freshly treated skin is more permeable. If you must wear makeup the same day, keep it light and mineral-based and use clean brushes. Wait 24 hours for sweaty workouts, saunas and hot yoga, and 48–72 hours before direct sun at the beach or pool, then reapply SPF 30+ every two hours.
